For this question, be sure to emphasize your strengths from a professional standpoint.
Avoid using this question to give personal traits that you feel are weaknesses.
" I am always aware and continuously working on my communication skills...."
- Why should we hire you for this position?
Be sure to stay confident and direct when addressing this question. Summarize your experiences and
knowledge pertinent to the position you are interviewing for. Highlight your successes.
" With my 6 years of experience as well as my contributions as well as successfully meeting my goal each quarter....."
- Why do you want to work here?
Guess what the interviewer wants to hear? They want to hear that you are serious about working for them and that you have put some thought into applying for their company. They want to make sure you are not just mass blasting out your resume with no real motivation to join their team. "I am very passionate about working with an organization that contributes to the community like your company......"
- What are your short term and long term goals?
Discuss immediate short term goals that has a value to the employer and can tie into the job you are interviewing for. Long term goals should not be too long term. It may seem too distant to the employer. Remember, the employer wants to hire for that position right now and needs someone who wants to stay in that position for a while.
- Why are you leaving your current employer? or Why did you leave your employment?
Again, keep a very positive perspective and give an honest answer. If you were laid off you may want to highlight that you have stayed active and kept your skills sharp by volunteering or taking some classes to increase knowledge. Do not bad mouth your previous employer.
If you are still employed, Focus on what you want in your next job, if you indicate "growth opportunities" be specific and give examples that make sense for the position you are being interviewed for.
